Photo by @KristaRossow | Tucked away at the eastern foot of Table Mountain lies the beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, where bushes of yellow pincushion protea seem to flow like waves in the landscape. Cape Town and the surrounding region is a biodiversity hot spot and makes up one of the six floral kingdoms in the world. Photo by @daisygilardini | Cruising along coastal British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest on a misty morning, we spotted this great blue heron in silhouette. We spent a full hour photographing in this beautiful light with the fog playing against the rising sun. There is something simple and magical about the rainforest. It fills my soul and lifts my spirit. Follow me @DaisyGilardini for more images and stories behind the scenes. #greatblueheron #birdphotography #greatbearrainforest #canada #britishcolumbia

Photo by @michaelmelford | In April I hiked to the base of Fitz Roy from El Chaltén, Argentina, and it was one of the best hikes I’ve ever done. It was a challenging day hike that I'll remember for a long time. The town of El Chaltén has so much charm. I look forward to returning here again. #autumn #argentina #hiking #nature

Photo by @ErikaSkogg | Swipe right to see the continued panorama of the sandstone formations and man-made Bastei Bridge in Saxon Switzerland, Germany. An hour's drive or train ride to Rathen from Dresden brings you to a picturesque ferry ride across the Elbe River and the many hiking trails throughout Saxon Switzerland National Park. If you need any additional encouragement, there is a restaurant serving traditional German food at the top! #Germany #Rathen

Photo by @michaelclarkphoto | The Karaweik Palace, which is a Chinese restaurant these days, reflects in Kandawgyi Lake in Yangon, Myanmar. This scene is a pleasant stroll from a number of hotels in downtown Yangon. Also nearby is the famous Shwedagon Pagoda, which is a photographic feast for the eyes as well as the most well known religious site in Myanmar. #yangon #myanmar

Photo by @MartinEdstrom | A person washes laundry on the ghats of Varanasi. This ancient city is a key spiritual destination on any traveler's itinerary for India. It is a mythical port to the Ganges, one of the most populated and polluted rivers in the world. Tourism here is a constant factor in pollution. As we become more mindful of the impact of our travels, it's important to consider where and how often we wash our clothes. Microplastics wash off from our laundry, and the communities we visit may be impacted in the long run. Follow @MartinEdstrom and @insidenatgeo for more on the Ganges, plastic, and sustainable travel. #sustainabletravel #responsibletravel #ExpeditionPlastic #India #Ganges

Photo by @stephen_matera | Here's a summer wildflower photo to warm you up during the cold late autumn weather in the Northern Hemisphere. Wildflowers are a beautiful midsummer sight at Mount Rainier, where they usually peak in color around late July or early August. Every year is different in timing and how big the bloom is, but the wildflowers are as thick and colorful at Mount Rainier as anywhere I've ever seen. At 14,411 feet, Mount Rainier is the highest mountain in Washington State. Photo by Cristina Mittermeier @Mitty | Titouan Bernicot told me he was "born on a pearl farm lost in the middle of the Pacific Ocean." At age 16 he realized that the coral reefs in French Polynesia were dying and decided to do something to help. He founded @CoralGardeners, a nonprofit that educates the public about the importance of coral reefs. Now 20 years old, Titouan works along with other Coral Gardeners to restore the reef on their home island of Moorea. Spending time with them and my team at @SeaLegacy reinvigorated my own sense of purpose and filled me with hope. You too can help Coral Gardeners replant their home reef by visiting their operation in beautiful Moorea or by adopting a coral on their website. They will plant one on your behalf and send you a photo and certificate of your baby coral. Together we can save the reef! Follow me @Mitty for more stories about young people who are working to make a difference in their communities and around the world. #WeTheReef #ClimateChange #Coral #Ocean #TurningTheTide

Photo by Matt Borowick @mborowick | If you’re looking for something a little different while traveling around Iceland, the abandoned whaling ship called Garðar BA 64 is just the site to see. Built in 1912 in a state-of-the-art facility in Norway, it served many different owners over seven decades. In 1981 it was deemed unsafe and run aground, where it can currently be found in the Westfjords. For more pictures from Iceland, follow @mborowick. #iceland #abandoned #adventure #industrial #arctic

Photo by @daisygilardini | Patagonia is known for its strong winds and beautiful lenticular clouds. Lenticular clouds typically form over mountain peaks where there’s moisture. Lenticulars are also called standing wave clouds because they’re associated with waves in the atmosphere. They develop when strong winds push air over a mountain. What is interesting is that the clouds stand still and remain stationary. Though wind may move through them, it doesn’t push them. Instead the clouds change shape by continually forming and dissipating around the crest of the wave of moisture. This picture shows the silhouette of a guanaco with huge lenticular clouds in the background. Follow me @DaisyGilardini for more images and stories behind the scenes. #guanaco #Torresdelpainenationalpark #chile #lenticularcloud
